Oh, Pokemon, one of the sweetest memories of my childhood. The first game video game I ever got was Pokemon Yellow. Many hours of play time went into the game with my little Pikachu following me around. I never stopped loving Pokemon and all the awesome creatures that came from it. I remember being a kid and wanting to start my journey to become the very best like no one ever was. I loved playing those game and still do. The best part about it now is that I am sharing that love for Pokemon with my kids. With Sun and Moon coming out there has been much talk about the new games and the new Pokemon that comes with it. We started looking for the Pokemon that have been released so far and I thought I would share them with you.
Info on the game itself:
Pokemon Sun and Moon are the 7th installments into the Pokemon series. It was announced this year back on February 27. This year is also Pokemon’s 20th anniversary (Man I feel old). It is due to release on November 18, 2016, unless you live in Europe where the game will be released on November 23, 2016. The game will take place in the Alola region. Which sounds a lot like ‘Aloha’ which is Hawaiian for hello and goodbye. Which is fitting since this region is base off of Hawaii. The new region will contain 4 islands to explore as well as a 5th artificial island. The games are for the Nintendo 3DS. You will be able to move Pokemon from the 6th generation games and the re-released versions of Pokemon generation one, (Red, Blue, and Yellow) with the help of the Pokemon bank. At the time I am writing this article we have 18 new Pokemon, at least 5 new moves, and at least 9 new abilities. We also have a new battle mode 4-way, free for all, and battle royal. Also, our Pokedex will now have a Pokemon living inside them. Rotom now lives inside your Pokedex. Called the Rotom Pokédex. Through the Pokédex, Rotom can speak human languages. The Pokédex also acts as a real-time map on the bottom screen on the player’s Nintendo 3DS, showing the player’s location, places of interest, and recommended destinations based on conversations made with NPCs. The game overall will be smoother and run better. ( I will continue to update everytime new Pokemon are revealed )
Now let’s start with our Starters
Rowlet The Grass Quill Pokemon
Type: Grass Flying
Ability: Overgrowth: This Pokémon is able to rotate its head almost 180 degrees, and has excellent night vision. It is also able to fly silently and attack with powerful kicks.
PokeDex Entry : Its visual abilities are impressive. The darkness of night is no obstacle to Rowlet! It can twist its neck nearly 180° from front to back so it can see directly behind itself. It has a habit of turning its head in battle to face its Trainer and receive instructions. Rowlet can attack without making a sound! It flies silently through the skies, drawing near to its opponent without being noticed, and then lashing out with powerful kicks. It can also attack from a distance using the razor-sharp leaves that form part of its feathers.
Write opinion: This guy is cute but I saw a video of him turn his head to look at his trainer. I will not lie it freaked me out.
Litten The Fire Cat Pokemon
PokeDex Entry: Litten can attack with flaming hairballs! Its fur is rich in oils and immensely flammable. Litten grooms itself by licking its fur, and then uses the collected fur as fuel for fireball attacks! Logical but also passionate, Litten always remains coolheaded and doesn’t show its emotions on the surface.
When the time comes for Litten to shed its old fur, it all burns up in a glorious blaze.
Writers Opinion: This will be my starter. I love his look and I just love the idea of defeating my enemies with flaming Hairballs
Popplio: The Sea Lion Pokemon
PokeDex Entry: Popplio is able to snort bubbles of water from its nose, which it uses as part of its battle strategy, and it can swim at 25 mph (40 km/h). On land, it uses the elasticity of its bubbles to perform acrobatic stunts and jumps. Popplio can snort out balloons made of water! Watch it spin water balloons into a playful battle strategy! Both frivolous and hard-working, Popplio can easily get carried away—unleashing enough power in battle to make quite a spectacle! But Popplio’s determined spirit means it can usually be found practicing hard on its balloon skills. The Water Gun move attacks an opponent by firing a jet of water. Popplio knows this move from the moment it becomes your partner!
Writer Opinion: I feel like I am looking at the next Oshawott and Piplup. He is got to be popping out of his Pokeball and causing all kinds of trouble.
Rockruff: The Puppy Pokemon
Ability: Keen Eye or Vital Spirit
PokeDex Entry : Rockruff has an excellent sense of smell. It will never forget an odor after smelling it once. There are tales of it reuniting with its Trainer after becoming lost by following the faintest traces of scent. This Pokémon is very sociable and will greet others by rubbing them with the rocks around its neck. As it ages, Rockruff becomes wilder. Once it is close to evolving, it will begin to howl when the sun goes down. It has been said to leave its Trainer’s side and return once it has evolved. A persistent Pokémon, it will keep going until it outlasts foes that are even more powerful
Writer Opinion: I WANT IT. I love it. It is so cute. It will be on my team forever. (My girl is so showing). People are saying it is a spitz-type breed. I think it could be a Shiba Inu.
Secret Fun Fact: The 3 starters and Rockruff are all connected in some mysterious way and are very important to the plot of the game????
Komala: The Drowsing Pokemon
PokeDex Entry : This Pokémon has never been seen awake. While its expression sometimes changes as if it is aware of its surroundings, this appears to be a result of its dreams instead. It is able to eat, travel, and even battle without waking. If the log pillow it clings to is removed, it will be unable to sleep well and thrash wildly. However, it will sometimes cling to the arm of a Trainer it trusts. According to ancient people, if a small amount of the saliva created when it eats leaves is watered down and ingested, one will be able to sleep well.
Writer Opinion: This little guy is cute, I would love to see it get it’s pillow taken away and then it run around like Taz. Koala can be very scary. They are cute fur balls of danger.
Yungoos: The Loitering Pokemon
Ability Stake or Strong Jaw
PokeDex Entry: Yungoos has a voracious appetite and always hungry. Much of its body is dominated by its stomach, and it is able to digest food quickly. Its strong teeth allow it to crush and consume the hardest of objects. This Pokémon stalks through its territory searching for food until it passes out from exhaustion. However, it is believed that Yungoos decides its territory based on safety so that it can collapse anywhere without fear.
Writers Opinion: I am not sure if this is a weasel or a ferret. Either way it looks evil and like it is plotting to eat my face. I had a friend that was terrified of ferrets. I feel like this was pulled from her nightmares.
Pikipek: Woodpecker Pokemon
Type: Normal Flying
Ability: Keen Eye or Skill Link
PokeDex Entry: Pikipek is able to strike 16 times per second with its beak. This allows it to not only drill through wood, but shatter stone as well. The holes it drills in trees are used to store both food and small, glittering objects. The noise of this Pokémon pecking can be used to communicate with others. This Pokémon is able to attack opponents by zipping seeds at them. These shots have enough force to embed the seeds in trees.
Writer Opinion: I normally am not a big fan of the starting area birds. Since they are just common bird and I will run into them a hundred time before I leave the areas. This little guy is another story. I am looking forward to catching this little guy. I can wait to see what he evole too.
Grubbin: The Larva Pokemon
PokeDex Entry: Grubbin uses its jaw as both a weapon and a tool for burrowing. Additionally, it can create sticky threads, which it shoots from its mouth and uses to swing around as though on suspension wires. It loves electricity, and can be found near power plants.
Writers Opinion: NOPE…. NOPE…. NOPE… If you live anywhere with earwigs. That is what this reminds me of. I am not having some Pokemon lay eggs in my brain.
Charjabug: The Battery Pokemon
Type: Bug Electric
PokeDex Entry : This Pokémon stays immobile as it prepares for its evolution, and is often half-buried in the earth. It is able to store electricity. The electricity it stores could run a household for a whole day, and can be shared with other Pokémon
Writer’s Opinion: Can I attach a Cell Phone charger to it????
Vikavolt: The Stag Beetle Pokemon
Type: Bug Electric
PokeDex Entry : Vikavolt is an adept flier, capable of acrobatic maneuvers such as tailspins and sharp turns. Even as it weaves through complicated tangles of branches in the forest, it is able to maintain high-speed flight. Its huge jaws control the electricity it uses to fire beams. When it clasps a Charjabug in its legs, it is able to utilize it as an extra battery. This allows it to continue firing powerful attacks. However, in fierce aerial fights, it will release Charjabug to make itself lighter and more mobile.
Writer Opionin: This bug makes my think of the horror stories my best friend tells me about living in Panama. If this was a real bug i would run and call in the army. This bug weights 99lbs and jaw that looks like it would have no problem crushing my skull.
Drampa: The Placid Pokemon
Ability: Berserk or Sap Sipper
PokeDex Entry: This dragon Pokémon lives alone in the mountains 10,000 feet above sea level. The Berries it feeds on do not grow at this altitude, so it descends to the base of the mountains daily at dawn. It loves communicating with people and Pokémon and is especially gentle with children. It will often appear in areas where children gather. Despite its gentle nature, it becomes enraged if a child it cares for is hurt. It is capable of firing attacks powerful enough to knock down buildings.Writer’s comment: To the people old enough to remember this movie. To me this Pokemon reminds me of Falcor from the never ending story)
Writer’s comment: To the people old enough to remember this movie. To me, this Pokemon reminds me of Falcor from the Never Ending Story. Oh, how I hope you can teach him fly and ride around on him. One of my childhood dreams would be fulfilled.
Bruxish: The Gnash Teeth Pokemon
Type: Water Psychic
Ability: Dazzling or Strong Jaw
PokeDex Entry :This Pokémon buries itself on the seafloor, leaving only the growth on its head exposed. By emitting a low level of psychic power, it serves as radar to detect prey. Additionally, the protuberance can emit a strong psychic power. Opponents bathed in this power are stricken with terrible headaches and fall unconscious. When emitting this power, Bruxish grinds its teeth. This sound is enough to send nearby Pokémon fleeing immediately. In the Alola region, lifeguards allow this Pokémon to remain in their area to prevent other, dangerous Water-types from gathering
Writer’s Opinion: Pokemon why are you making Pokemon from my nightmares. This fish looks like it should have its own episode of River Monsters. That show is why I am afraid to swim in anything that is not a pool.
Cutiefly: The Bee Fly Pokemon
Type: Bug Fairy
Ability: Honey Gather or Shield Dust
PokeDex Entry : Cutiefly is capable of detecting the aura of living things, such as plants, people, and Pokémon. It collects nectar and pollen from flowers, which are found by the color and brightness of their auras. However, when a living creature is excited, its aura resembles flowers in full bloom. As a result, Cutiefly tends to gather around beings feeling strong emotions. This Pokémon can be found in fields and meadows, but is sometimes attracted to towns or buildings by the emotions of living beings.
Writer’s Opinion; OMG so cute. I want one so it can fly around with me and we can be the best of friends and go on happy adventures together spreading love and joy.
Togedemaru: The Roly-Poly Pokemon
Type: Electric Steel
Ability: Iron Barbs or Lighting Rod
PokeDex Entry : Togedemaru is the Roly-Poly Pokémon that gathers electricity and stores it. The long needle that grows from the back of its head works as a lightning rod to attract electricity. With this reservoir of electrical energy, Togedemaru is able to release powerful Electric-type attacks! Covering its body is a pattern of fur with strands like needles. That means that Togedamaru can roll itself up, and presto—it’s a ball of prickles! Some skilled Trainers have developed the strategy of getting other Pokémon to unleash Electric-type attacks on Togedemaru, which absorbs their power to use in a response attack! On days when lightning strikes, you can sometimes see Togedemaru gather and bristle up their needles, waiting to be struck by lightning.
Writer’s Opinion: Sonic finally got his own Pokemon. I wondered how long before that happened.
Salandit: The Toxic Lizard Pokémon
Type: Posion Fire
PokeDex Entry: Salandit emits toxic gas, together with flames, from the base of its tail. This poisonous gas has a sweet smell, and anyone who unknowingly breathes it in will become dizzy. Salandit is not a very powerful Pokémon, but its cunning nature allows it to battle fiercely by throwing its opponents off balance.
Salandit females not only release toxic gasses, they can also emit pheromones that attract males of all species, including Pokémon and humans. Inhaling these pheromones may cause opponents to be controlled by Salandit’s will.
Writer’s Opinion: This Pokemon is up to something. Look at its eyes. Those are the eyes of someone constantly calculating their next move. Waiting for the right opportunity to strike you in your sleep.
Mimikyu: Disguise Pokemon
Type: Ghost Fairy
PokeDex Entry: Mimikyu lives its life completely covered by its cloth and is always hidden. People believe that anybody who sees its true form beneath the cloth will be stricken with a mysterious illness. People in the Alola region are convinced that you must never try to peek beneath its covering. Mimikyu’s health fails when it’s bathed in the rays of the sun, so it prefers to stick to dark places. It’s rumored that the reason it covers itself with a cloth is to avoid sunlight. The rising popularity of Pikachu-styled merchandise around 20 years ago is the reason that Mimikyu makes itself look like Pikachu. In fact, this Pokémon is dreadfully lonely, and it thought it would be able to make friends with humans if only it looked like Pikachu. Mimikyu’s Pikachu-like appearance is due to its Disguise Ability. In order to resemble Pikachu, this Pokémon makes patterns that look like eyes and a mouth appear on a regular scrap of cloth.
Writer Opinion: I WILL BE YOUR FRIEND…..
Bewear: The Strong Arm Pokemon:
Type: Normal Fighting
Ability: Fluffy/ Klutz
Pokedex Entry: When Bewear is acting in a friendly fashion, just swinging its arms around, you must never dare to approach it carelessly. It is acknowledged to be a dangerous Pokémon, even within the Alola region. You may see warning signs posted near places it resides. When Bewear grows fond of its Trainer, it may show that feeling in a fond embrace—but the force of that hug is tremendous! Trainers must teach these Pokémon how to restrain their strength when showing affection. Some wild Bewear use amazing martial-arts moves. Apparently the Pokémon learn these moves by watching Black Belts practicing when they go out to train in the woods. Bewear’s arms and legs are strong and highly developed. Its powerful spine enables it to lift objects weighing a ton or more. It loves to give crushing bear hugs—a tight hug from this Pokémon’s arms will split anything at all in two!
Writer Opinion: This Pokemon is if you took SCP 173 amd SCP 1048 and they had a baby. Cute death that is all this is and I want it.
Wimpod: The Turn Tail Pokemon
Type: Bug water
Ability : Wimp Out
PokeDex Entry:Wimpod have a cowardly nature and are wary of noises and sudden movements. If you approach them in a group, they’ll immediately run off. When Wimpod feel threatened, they spit out a poisonous liquid. The stench of this toxic fluid signals others that danger is near. Despite their extreme cowardice, their curiosity leads Wimpod to approach people or Pokémon that are standing still. Wimpod eats and stores anything that they find fallen on the ground. They also scavenge any garbage that’s been dropped in the sea, so they’re highly valued as cleaners. They sometimes carry pearls or other valuable items, so humans or Pokémon like Murkrow may target them.
Writer Opinion: Bugs like this make me scared of the ocean. I am scared of stepping on something I can’t see… Shudders
Mudsdale: Draft Horse Pokemon
Ability: Own Tempo/Stamina
PokeDex Entry: Mudsdale is known for its powerful body as well as its emotional fortitude, which keeps it from being agitated by anything. It never cries out, no matter what kind of trouble it’s in, and it defeats its opponents with a single powerful blow. Its legs are coated in protective mud, and the weight of this coating increases the force of its kicks. One kick and a car is a pile of scrap! Mudsdale’s running speed is not too swift, but it has excellent power and stamina. It can carry on for three days and three nights despite dragging loads of over 10 tons! When Mudsdale gallops in earnest, the power of each hoof-clop can dig out huge holes, even in asphalt. Mudsdale is forbidden to run on some of Alola’s public roads.
Writer’s Opinion: I want it. This guy is tough and going to be tough to beat. I better brush up on my horse skills. I don’t want to be kickked in the head. Their is no coming back from that.
Comfey: The Pose Picker Pokemon
Ability: Flower veil/ Triage
PokeDex Entry: Comfey picks flowers and always carries them around. It makes a ring of blossoms and spreads oil from its body on it, which changes the flowers so they emit a soothing fragrance. It has a habit of giving these flower rings to those it’s fond of. The aroma can soothe both itself and its allies. Comfey also helps with the treatment of people and Pokémon at Pokémon Centers and hospitals, thanks to its aroma. When attacked by other Pokémon, it throws its flowers at them to create an opening, and then it either flees or strikes back.
Writer Opinion: If these were real I would walk around with one of these out of its Pokeball. I would use it to sooth upset children and people that are sad or having a bad day. I would just go around cheering people up. Like going to Children hospitals to make them happy and laugh. You know just bring some brightness to their day.
Bounsweet: The Fruit Pokemon
Ability: Leaf Guard/Oblivious
Pokedex Entry: Because it exudes a delicious smell from its entire body, Bounsweet is popular with Pokémon and people of the Alola region. Bounsweet’s scent has a calming effect on humans, so many people let them live inside their homes as a sort of air freshener. Unfortunately, it’s sometimes swallowed whole by Pokémon drawn to its aroma. When running away from other Pokémon, Bounsweet flees danger by skipping along the ground. Since its bouncy movements don’t convey to others that it’s actually in desperate flight, no one ever comes to its aid. When attacked by enemies, it drives them off by rotating the calyx on its head. The downside is how dizzy it gets afterward!
Writer Opinion: I will catch all of them and keep them safe. Mommy emotions activated.
Magearna: The artificial Pokemon
Type: Steel Fairy
PokeDex Entry : Margearna was created 500 years by a scientist of uncommon genius. The sphere in Magearna’s chest is known as the Soul-Heart and is Magearna’s true form. If the Soul-Heart is removed, Magearna’s body will be left lifeless and unable to move. The scientist created Magearna’s Soul-Heart by gathering the life force of many Pokémon. Magearna has the power to perceive the emotions, thoughts, and feelings of other Pokémon. If a Pokémon is injured, Magearna will feel the other’s pain and suffering and will try as hard as it can to save that Pokémon. By curling inside of itself, Magearna can take the appearance of a Poké Ball. It takes this form while sleeping or when it is feeling sad. Magearna is the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move, Fleur Cannon. She was the first Pokemon revivled
Writer Opionion: She looks like a princess. I can not wait to encounter her and she how she is invovled with everything.
Tapu Koko: The Land Spirit Pokemon
Type: Electric Fairy
Ability Electric Surge
PokeDex Entry : Tapu Koko is a special Pokémon that protects the area where it lives. It’s called the guardian deity of Melemele Island, one of the islands of the Alola region. Although it’s known as a guardian deity, it’s a surprisingly fickle Pokémon, and will not necessarily come to your aid if you need help. Despite that, this Pokémon has a strong sense of curiosity. If it becomes interested in a person or in other Pokémon, it may come to play or battle with them. Tapu Koko can store up electricity by enclosing itself in the shells on its arms. And it also appears to enter this form during other, special times????
Writer Opinion: He is going to be one tough cookie if you have to battle him. I can’t wait to see if the do other Tiki gods. I am so excited.
Solgaleo: The Sunne Pokemon
Type: Psychic Steel
Ability: Full Metal Body
PokeDex Entry : Known as the “beast that devours the sun,” Solgaleo has long been honored as an emissary of the sun. Its body is capable of holding a vast amount of energy and glows when active. Solgaleo is the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Sunsteel Strike. While it is not known to evolve into or from any Pokémon, it takes a special form called the Radiant Sun phase when it uses its full power.
Writer’s Opinion: I love the design of this guy and I love his back story and Typing. I am so glad Gamefreak didn’t just do the easy typing for Solgaleos. It give him deeper meaning and I can’t wait to see how he plays out in the Lore in the game.
Lunala: The Moone Pokemon
Type: Psychic Ghost
Ability: Shadow Sheild
PokeDex Entry : Known as the “beast that calls the moon,” Lunala has long been honored as an emissary of the moon. This Pokémon constantly absorbs light to convert into energy. When it spreads its wings to absorb light and glitters, it resembles a beautiful night sky. Lunala is the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Moongeist Beam. While it is not known to evolve into or from any Pokémon, it takes a special form called the Full Moon phase when it uses its full power.
This is the game I am picking. Pokemon Moon all the way baby. I have a very special connection to the Moon so it was an easy pick. I love the Full Moon Phase. It looks gorgues and I can’t wait to see it in game.
Secret Fun Fact: It was said a the E3 reveal of this game that ” The legendaries will tie into this game like the Legendaries have never before ????
Bouns Legendary Pokemon
Zygarde: The Order Pokemon
Type: Dragon Ground
Ability: Aura Break or Power Construct (50% and 10% ) : Power Construct (100%)
Even thought Zygarde is a 6th gene legendary Pokemon. He has a big role in the upcoming games Pokemon Sun and Moon. What role he plays is yet to be revealed but in these games we see all his forms not just his 50% form
All the information I gathered was from Bulbapedia.net and pokemon-sunmoon.com
